Useful Thing of the Day: Dusty Tunes

Dusty Tunes

A person’s music collection can give you a pretty good idea as to what type of person they may be. In a world where we find ourselves sharing more and more online; it seems only natural to share our music collection also. How many profiles, after all, have you run across that say “a little of everything” for a person’s musical preference? After all, it’s kind of hard to summarize the extent of what anyone listens to in a sentence.

Dusty Tunes gives the perfect solution with the capabilities to have your very own webpage dedicated to sharing your iTunes library with the world. The list is put into tidy categories by artist and each artist link gives the user the ability to listen to previews, get information, or make a purchase.

That way you can keep those dirty, embarrassing pleasures to yourself. While Dusty Tunes does have support for other media players, you still need to have iTunes installed to use it. So if you don’t have iTunes, you are out of luck. Don’t want to share everything with the world? No problem! Dusty Tunes also gives you the choice to upload a playlist instead of your entire collection.

I’ll be putting a list together to share with you all very shortly. So check back and see how mindboggling the deviations are in my musical tastes.

My iGoogle

So you have joined every social network on the web and now you find yourself having a really hard time keeping up with everything? If you are like I was, you wake up to check a series of websites as part of your morning ritual. You have the weather, Twitter, MySpace, Facebook, your calendar, etc. Well right under our noses is a totally free place to consolidate that pageview to one! It’s called iGoogle.

Leave to to Google to make our lives easier. Maybe you knew about this nifty tool but didn’t realize what it could do for you. Imagine being able to keep an eye on all of your social networks, Google’s latest hot trends, your horoscope, your calender, and potentially any other soft of information you could want at your fingertips.

It is like a sort of daily newspaper that you create with gadgets and themes of your choosing. The options run from valuable productivity tools and information to fun little ways to break up the day. Integrate it with your GMail account and you are set with a full dashboard of possibilities.

The best part of all of this? It’s mobile and can be accessed from any computer. This works out well for those who have multiple computers, those who don’t have their own computers yet, or even for those who have purchased a new netbook and want to keep their hard drive space usage to a minimum.

Check it out today. It is bound to make your life a little easier.
